Welcome Coaches!
The Mount Sentinel Little League Board selects coaches for each division from interested and approved volunteers. All coaches must attend coaches meetings, and must submit the required volunteer documentation to be considered. Documents and background check forms can be found in your personal Mount Sentinel LL account under Volunteer Opportunities. It must be completed for the 2024 season. please note a valid driver's license will be required to send a background check.
Role of Managers and Coaches
Managing and coaching is a privilege and must be accepted as such. Behavior on and off the field is very important to the program. Please remember that this program is for ALL the kids. Managers and coaches must be leaders. All must recognize that they hold a position of trust and responsibility in a program that deals with our youth.
Managers and coaches must possess patience, understanding, and the ability to work with children. They need to be able to inspire respect, and realize that they are helping to shape the physical, mental, and emotional development of young people.
While knowledge of the game of baseball is essential for manager and coaches, it is not the only prerequisite when looking to place a manager or coach on a team. A person's ability to lead and teach are also taken into consideration when looking to fill a position. The manager, coach, and player should all share a common interest in the game, a desire to excel, and a determination to win. It has been said that Little League programs can only be as good as the quality of the leadership in the managing and coaching staff.
Please Remember: We are a youth development program with the goal of developing children into superior citizens, not superior athletes. We are not just a baseball program. Instead, we believe the game of baseball requires character, courage, and loyalty which will translate to real life success!
